By profession DurgaMata is an artist and teacher but the most important element in her life is SPIRITUAL ASPIRATION. She believes that if we really want to make a positive difference in the world, we have to begin with our own lives and look within and she has been practising meditation for over 40 years.
When we take action to raise our own consciousness, this ripples out into the wider world in a natural way and the change is enduring. This is how The Seven Steps to Happiness Works. Our consciousness is influenced by everything we do - everyone we meet influences us. In this Programme we mix with some of the most inspiring people I can find. We can't always avoid stress. So often it comes from external factors, the world outside, but these people share their insights in to how to handle the outside world in a more powerful way. They teach us how to surf stress.

When we raise consciousness everything changes.
This philosophy is not new. Over 2,000 years ago in China, Lao-tse expressed it eloquently.
If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbours.
If there is to be peace between neighbours,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.”
As is true in all aspects of life, the important things are not new. They are timeless. But it is not enough just to know about them. What is needed is action, to embed these truths in our lives. Through her unique, very practical but also inspirational Seven Steps to Happiness Programme Durga Mata enables her students to see their own lives with more clarity and their unique sources of stress with a better perspective, giving clarity and empowerment.As students, each individual is in the driving seat, able to choose and take the steps that they can see will help them - but always supported by others in the cohort and guided by the programme and its creator.
